2017年是《座头市》（Zatoichi）原著《怀手帖》作者子母泽宽逝世50周年，同时也是初版电影《座头市物语》中扮演盲剑客座头市的勝新太郎逝世20周年，又恰逢1987年版《铁血战士》（Predator）电影上映30周年，受此启发岡部淳也制作了这个非盈利/非商业性质的特摄短片。
